Vehicle History
For most, the classic car hobby is based on automotive nostalgia, and this owner is no exception. The 1957 Buick Special he owned in the 1960's left such a deep impression, that he decided to buy another one in 1994. This California car went through an extensive restoration in 2000 (done by the owner himself) and was kept safe and sound in the garage for the most of the time. Now that he has decided to give up the classic car hobby, he wants to find a caring home for this beauty. The odometer reads 51,715 miles (the true mileage however remains unknown), the clean New Mexico title is in his name.

This South Gate, CA built Special, left the factory in two-tone “Carlsbad Black” and “Dover White.” The respray was executed all over in “Black”. No body repairs were necessary in the process, but the portholes were welded shut for the sake of a streamlined look, and those portholes are included in the sale. The smooth lines are contrasted by chrome trim, which is in excellent condition. A slight window tint and chrome spoke wheels with 235/70-R15 Rogue white-wall radial tires, contribute to the elegant and sophisticated appearance.

The color scheme was the same when the Buick left the factory, but the upholstery (front and rear bench seats) is now covered in black-on-white leather – only the headliner is still original. The beautiful dashboard shows no signs of cracking, warping or discoloration. It features machined aluminum panels and the original “Wonder bar” radio which is still in its place.

The original, numbers-matching 364 cu in. “Fireball” V8 generates 250 hp and is mated to the original variable pitch Dynaflow transmission. An alternator has replaced the generator which was saved and comes with the car. The undercarriage is exceptionally clean, with no signs of surface rust, leaking or weeping.
